SOUS Ornament challenge

Welcome December, Welcome Christmas!  My favorite time of year.  It is the most wonderful time of the year by far!    Today is SOUS Friday and this weeks die cut challenge, create an ornament.  I could not wait to get my hands into the new Cricut cartridge by Anna Griffin, Winter Wonderland.  The shadow box below is what I came up with.   LOVE LOVE this !!   I added  depth with foam pop dots.
satin trim and glitter.   I used red ric rak along the inside of the glass on the upper portion and think this really gives it the vintage look I was going for.  The outer fame of the box was covered in gold glitter paper and aged with Tim Holtz inkers.     I see lots of new projects on the horizon with this cartridge.  Thank you for stopping by and thanks to you Anna Griffin for a great and Wonderful partnership with Provo Craft.

The Cuts !!

The below you can see the inside side walls covered in a classic basic grey paper.
Berries were covered in Stickles.

One Crafty Speller

*** POOF ***

Hello Blog Land !!  feels like its been forever!  No worries.. FALL is here and this by far is one of my favorite crafting seasons.  How about you?     Its a Happy SOUS Friday Challenge and I sure hope you participate in this one.  Do not forget to link up on the official SOUS Blog.    Can you guess what this challenge was about?   If you said Halloween... wrong!   Our queen crafty witch or is that goddess... Nanne' challenges us to come up with a project with the theme " Hocus Pocus "   so anything to do with magic!   I could have come up with something Disney, or some sort of magical moment with my family.  Instead I took a queue from my most amazing talent.. or lack there of.  " Spelling " !!!  LOL   I'm a scrapbooker you see, and my most favorite subject, a straight A his whole life now Sophomore in college studying to enter the medical field with a minor in foreign language.   So I hope I have painted the picture for you.  For you see, I'm the creative one, not the brains in the family... and he does not hesitate to point out my every misspelled word with in his albums.  So nothing could be more appropriate than this to adorn the door of my crafty space.   I think its important to take special note in the ' spelling ' portion of this sign.... for you see, I could not resist the opportunity to add this cute cuttlebug frog adorned with my Sizzix witches die hat to which his little rabbit ears poke through.   LOL !! thus emphasizing the 'magic' part of this theme and my inability to cast appropriate 'spells'. I also used my Cricut cartridge Happy Hauntings for the witch and frame.   Sizzix font strip for the message.   I just love how this turned out and hope you are inspired to run to your crafty caves and create create create !

Happy Crafting my fellow spellbinders !!!   :)   Be sure to check out the Official SOUS BLOG for more amazing inspiration !   Until next time ** POOF **  :)

BEWARE - of my HALLOWEENIES !!

Today is SOUS Die Cut Team reveal and oh what fun it is.  Well its always fun isn't it ?  For this challenge we were asked to create with a theme of Furry Friends in mind.   Having little dachshund dogs I cold not resist ! I know we are not in October as of yet but hey.. never to early to prepare right?    I created this little sign using Cricut Cartridge Four Legged Friends and Happy Hauntings.
So much fun I think.  The little pups look a little nervous them self. LOL.
I had in my every growing stash of paper some old Basic Grey with all those little bones on it that I used for the back ground.  I know this will be on display in my home for many Halloweens to come.

Link up with us on the SOUS blog. and be sure to browse for extra inspiration!

Lake Side Wedding

Created for a friend and her Eufaula Lakeside wedding.  :)  I love how this turned out.

Cricut Cartridges used were, MS Elegant Cakes, Winter Woodland and Cindy Loo.

For my ' BOO '

Admit it.  We all have cute little names for our family members.  :)    When Ms. Nanne' from Stuck On U sketches posted for our latest project I was stummped.    I live in the country and do not  receive trick or treaters.  Cody being 19... well not many photo ops there for me to stage something before the due date.   However I do love love the changing of the seasons and all the colors of the holiday and who can go with out mentioning the 'candy '!     So for this ' Creepy Crawly ' challenge I decided to create some decor for my kitchen and a little treat bag to fill with all of my ' BOO's ' favorite candy :).

For the decor I have had this cartridge for ... well since it was released and I am afraid to tell you when that was. LOL.  So I decided it was time to crack the seal on the Pumpkin Carvings cartridge and create a glass block for my kitchen to glow at night :).   I filled it with orange toole and white lights and instead of Cody drawing a face on a pumpkin to be carved, he managed to make enough time for me to picked this cute little expression out for his block :).       On to the little bag.   Confession,  this was one of a few projects I worked on but did not finish for the PC contest using their new release Create a Critter 2.   I finished it too late to enter but just in time for the SOUS challenge and I am quite pleased.    I cut Orange and Black fabric using my Gypsy for the treat bag design, then cut again 3 more times.   This allowed me to line the inside and to make it more sturdy.  The bottom and sides were created with a straight 3.5 inch strip.   all pieces were sewn together with raw edges showing.  Once completed the edges were not lined up so perfectly so I used pinking shears to even out and I like how it added a little extra something.    Outlined the eyes and mouth with stickles and created a handle using wired vintage silver tinsle.   The tag, is a $1 bin bag of wooden tags covered in paper.  The 'BOO' was cut using Sizzix Sock Hop font.

My sweet BOO will be happy to see his little treat bag filled with goodies come hallows eve. :)

Be sure to creep over to the original SOUS Blog for more ideas our Design team created for this challenge.  Your sure to be inspired :)

ROCK ALL NIGHT GUITARS

Lets keeps this going shall we.   Post #2 of 7.  I think your really going to love this one!  and mind you the BEST one is yet to come ;)      For any who are just now reading this I encourage you to read the previous post.  I am sharing a series of 7 signs created for a little rockers 4th Birthday party.   This beauty represented the 'shop' where each guest could come shop and pick out their very own guitar! ( hee hee, blow up versions from oriental trading I think )   The Guitars they were able to find had flames on them and so of course I followed suit.     The Cricut Cartridge used... wait for it... Rock Princess !!! yep that guitar came off of Rock Princess and the flames were added using Indie art.   I love proving that even a girl cartridge can be worked for the boys :)

2 down and 5 to go!  see you soon

HARD ROCK candy bar

Ok.. remember when I mentioned not much activity in blog land.. but that I had been busy ?  Well... this post is the begining of some things I have been working on.     First up.  A ROCKIN BIRTHDAY !!  I have a friend at the office who wanted to help another friend and asked if I could create a few signs that would serve as ' store fronts ' for a childs rockin birthday party.  Cool I thought and so I said yes not even having met this other gal.  So with my list in hand, I was challenged to come up with a sign for the following:  Candy Bar, Gift Table, Cake Table, Guitar stand, Hair salon and Tattoo Parlor.   This cool kid loves playing guitar hero and his favorite color was blue.   Did I mention he was only 4 ?   LOL... yep I did the same thing. But learned quickly that this kiddo was into his parents classic rock music and could beat most anyone in guitar hero.  That game alone is what sparked the idea of this party.   So MOM decided to envolve all the family,  each would dress in rocker style and man a station and it was my job to 'ROCK IT OUT' ensuring it was boyish, and fun.  So with out delay lets get onto the fun stuff shall we.  :)

For todays post I will share the first Sign representing the Candy Bar.... and for the next few days I will post the remaining till they are all up so please stay tuned.

Ok.. so kid party... a table set up with a variety of candies and treats, a boy and ROCK... humm I thought.  But it did not take long to imagine the Hard Rock Cafe'  :)
So below is my version and Sign no. 1.

The base for all signs is the typical school project foam core board.  I cut each with a razor as my starting point.   For the Hard Rock Candy Bar, I used the Cricut Cartridge George and Basic shapes to cut my circle and the shadow.   "Candy Bar" was cut from Cricut Cartridge Street Sign, and " Hard Rock " cut from Hanna Montanna.    I glittered the circle wanting to give the effect of 'rock candy' for any of you that remember that :).   Being that his favorite color was blue, you will find it mixed in just about every single sign.   You will also find that although this was for a boy... I used the Hanna Montanna cartridge often as well.  So to any who thought that it was just for girls.... check back in the coming days and you just may have a change of heart ;)

Im the Good Witch

Hello blog land,  been busy here and almost let Halloween go by with out posting these things created for a special event.   Some of my online papercrafting buddies met up in Woodstock Ga for a wonderful weekend. The hostess planned a halloween theme event and I created these name tags for each of the ladies to wear.  The witch head and hair was cut from Princess cart and the Hat from Oct. 31st.  I had a blast and was lucky enough to help decorate the evening before so I also made up a few signs to hang around the room for 'inspiration'.  lol.   hope you like and it inspires you to host a crop with a theme.  :)   I am already looking forward to the next one!
The Mojo Potion cup, menu's and the witchie poo shoe filled with embellishments were all made by our Hosts. They were soooo creative and even created wands for us to use ensuring we would never hit a brain freeze.   love these girls  :)

most cuts for the signs came from Oct. 31st, and Happy Hauntings.  The scissors from Sentimentals and the trick or treating witch from A childs year.

Star Spangled Banner ?!?! ;)

For an upcoming swap where the theme is Red White and Blue,
I wanted to challenge myself not to go with the typical patriotic theme.
So... in keeping with Red White and Blue and
considering my partner and her love of the beach I am going with Nautical instead.
For this project... our challenge was ' Star Spangled Banner '.  I believe I stayed well with in the rules.  I have RWB and stars and stripes and it is a banner.  Tell me you Agree ? ;)
I used the Cricut cart. Life's a Beach to cut for patterns for both the anchor and the crab.
Please don't count his legs !!!
I accidentally cut one off!! so had to on the other side too or he would have looked wonky.
We cant have a wonky crab.
Anyway... another feltie, these are wired too and the idea was to have the crab hold a little sign but cant settle on one saying yet.  Suggestions welcomed :)

The back ground is canvas that I painted and glittered and pearlized
The pennants are also felt with stitched Stars and Circles cut from my Sizzix.
I hope my partner appreciates my interpretation of the Red White and Blue swap.
If not... Ill happily pay for return shipping.
Ha. Life's a Beach !!! enjoy!!!

now I'm feelin' BEACHY !!!  ( that's a good thing :)

Cricut Felties part II

Goood morning Blog,  as promised part two of Cricut Felties.
This time these were both made using Cricut Cartridge Straight From the Nest.
The flower pics dont show it.... grrr  ( may be taking those again )
but, the flower its self has a 'pillow' of hot pink and purple, then two more flowers were cut in the hot pink and pale pink and outter edges sewn for layering only.   This way is fluffy enough to serve as a table top pin cushion. large yellow button for the center and topped with a red, velvet covered button.   The leaves were both sewn with two layers but not stuffed.   Just tucked into the layers of the flower petals.
I love the way it turned out !  Happy colors :)

and then there is the OWL.   WHO LOVES YOU BABY ?!?!!?  Oh.. that cut is such a simple Cricut cut in paper but when done in felt the colors and layers pop!  I stuffed the main body but not the wings.  then added the final layer of wings in blue.  I dunno.. .just liked the way it looked.   I used prima flower centers for the eyes and his belly... i took the paper pattern and traced the swirl of its tummy in perm. marker. then covered in glitter glue.    Yep you guessed it... another pin cushion :)   this time i was thinking that its back side would serve to hold the pins.  Kinda like the pins would represent the tail feathers of the owl.
I sooo see more of these in the future :)   Im addicted.

These will be posted over on the Collectors Cut Blog soon! be sure to check it out for my friends and I are challenging ourself to use every cart in our collections!  Their creations are from different carts !

Cricut Felties !!!

No ... dont get to excited. I DID NOT cut these with my cricut. I did however use my cricut and the cartridge Florals Embellished to make paper patterns for use when I cut my felt. :)
The patterns in this handbook remind me all too much of ornaments from when I was a tiny tot.
I loved all the sparkly felt ornaments hanging on my grandmothers tree ! So I just had to take the opportunity to try one. So the Bird... a swweeet partridge for my Christmas Tree!!!
I cut the bird from page 65 in the handbook at 6 inches.
The butterfly, its from page 70 in the handbook and ... well... everyone in the paper crafting world is making these stick pins. I love them.. and its a new addiction :).... but where to keep them is the challenge.
So... i made a felt hanging pin cushion !! stuffed a bit and ready to be decked out with all my favorite pins.

Hope you like and hope you check back soon, because next up... yep, more felt goodies !!! ;)

My ' Tweet ' funny bunny

Another week and another CC challenge completed.
For this past week I drew out Christmas Cheer and 3 Birds on parade.  As much as I love Christmas I was determined to use these carts to create another spring project.  And so here it tis'.

I created a quite large gift bag using cuts from Christmas Cheer.  ( pg 118 and welded with a rectangle from George )  My bag is about 4.5 inches wide and stands approx 10 inches tall, not counting the handles.   The tag was also cut using Christmas Cheer.  3 Birds on Parade, I loved the Funny Bunny Bird !  I used a portion of the title on my tag and the chick and broken eggs for the front of the bag.   Im all set for a sweet gift to give at Easter.  :)

Be sure to check out other inspiration on the Collectors Cut Blog.
Stay tuned to next week.   New carts drawn  ;)

Cherish Banner

Back in 2010 my online friend Tracy and I decided to do a challenge. Little did we know then that it would turn into quite the fun it is today! AT this time.. the Collectors Cut Blog was not even a thought. However, it would seem that when I made this Cherish banner for Tracy I never posted it to my blog. Prob. because I have yet to figure out how to get a good picture of an entire banner!! I did eventually get a picture of the entire thing although not the best. The reason I am posting this now.... Well, for the Collectors Cut challenge I had pulled the ' Sweet Treats Cartridge ' and this banner... was created from it. The Pennents ... yep.. Sweet Treats party hats !!! upside down. :) and all of the flowers and their layers, all came from Sweet Treats. The other cuts not from ST are: a owl from Paisley, leaves with the flowers are a Cuttlebug die and then I used another cuttlebug stamp die for the base of my letters. Finishing touch was the Martha Stewart butterfly punch. From the pictures you can see that I am quite the fan of Martha Stewart. :) Hope my banner inspires you to create for your self.
The Flowers alone on this cart are worth the price!

Stay tuned for more.... Ill be posting two more projects using this Cartridge tonight. ((( hugs )))

Santa Clause is coming to Town!!

Friends, work has consumed me, but I wanted to take the time to post another project. This one is a old craft, one that I have not done in a long time. For my Gibbs swap partner I could not resist! We were challenged with creating an item ' covered in paint '. This did not call for a paper project although I did end up with several painted paper items and will add an additional one to this post. :)

Painting a ceramic santa however was just the thing for the challenge and the season. :)

The additional... a painted rabbit, sugared in snow and cuttled with the flower of Christmas. I altered a small hat box for my snow bunny to rest on and filled with sweet mints that melt in your mouth.

The Making of a mini

Happy Saturday everyone,
This post comes as a bit of suprise. I signed up just this week to join a swap on the Cricut message board. In this swap we are to make a mini scrapbook for a partner. I am new to mini's but could not be more excited to get this project underway.
Well... the following two mini's in the making were from a desire to play while in waiting of new supplies for my swap. Thus, I found myself digging into my stash of papers and products. The results thus far have me wanting for more :)
Carol... if your reading this.. please note these have no resemblance to the plans I have for your project. These were just something to do on this lovely Saturday.
And Although these are works in progress I could not resist the opportunity to share a few pics on my blog.

The first, a sweet pink....something. I dug out a K&Co paper pad ' Lovely ' that I purchased back around Valentines Day. I figured if these did not work out I could just toss...however I am beginning to love playing in the color pink!
You can't tell from my blog posts but pink is new for me and its like the sweet icing on a cake.

The second of the mini's in progress is one I thought I'd do for the many neglected photo's waiting to be scrapped of my dear Cody. I have many photos of frequent fishing trips with his dad and grandfather. This will allow me to share in his excitement of the 'BIG ONE'.

I should also mention that the book print flowers.. I received them from a online friend,(Jennifer Young)recently and oooOOohhh I can tell you that Im so going to need more.

Your comments are always cherrished! Huggs Ya'll :)
